At the headquarters library in Rome:

Welcome to the Special Collections Department of the Rome-Floyd County Library, a branch of the Sara Hightower Regional Library System. We are a source for local and Georgia history as well as genealogical research. Our collection contains information on the Civil War, Cherokee Indians, and Southern history. Materials available include books, original manuscripts, microfilm, and special files. Staff members and volunteers aid in beginning genealogical research. The Marshall Forest Room, named for the only national forest within a city limits, contains special holdings and is opened by appointment only.

The Northwest Georgia Historical and Genealogical Society donates all its materials for library use.
